"Target in sight. There are two guards stationed at the do and at least another nine patroling the garden."

"hehe sounds like fun"

"Keep you voice down" Mira hissed "and what the hells are you doing here anyway? Its not like your getting paid for this and I'm not sharing my pay with you."

Charlie mearly grined showing of her abnormally sharp canines. "I thought it would be fun to tag along, plus I Haven't had any new clients recently so I was board" she finished off with a whine. Her fox ears drooping a little and she used her most powerful weapon against Mira... The puppy dog eyes.  

In just a few seconds Mira sighted in defeat knowing full well even if she said no the half-breed would still follow. "Fine you can come. But if you get caught I wont be coming to the rescue"    

"hehe no honour among theives right?" Charlie laughed knowing full well that Mira would actually save her if the situation did actually arise.

"Correct. Now hurry up theres a short gap in the patrol every twenty minutes for us to get into the building and I'm not waiting anymore." The clock tower struck midnight and Mira's heart was pounding in her chest. These were the moments she loved the most in this dangerous life, the rush she would get in the knollage that if she was caught she would surely get a short drop and a sudden stop. The client hired her to steel some old amulet after the owner refused to sell it to him. Problem is the owner is ridiculously paranoid and his mansion was armed to the teeth, this should be fun. After days of scouting the area and memorizing the layout and all routes to the prize.

Charlie followed close behind keeping an eye on the near patrol who were by the window they were planning on going through in sight, a grin crossed her face and her tails wagging much like a dog with a bone.

Aproaching the window Mira slid it open just enough for them to slip through. Taking on last look behind her she entered the compound with charlie soon to follow. Most of the house hold had long since gone to bed so the lights were out. Making her way to the treasury through the lavishly decorated halls she kept close attention to any sound indicating that their cover had been blown.

Charlie's ears perked up as she picked up the sound of a guards aproaching foot steps, panic started to kick in as she grabed Miras risk and pulled her into a room which she soon noted as a small library.

"What the hells?" Mira hissed not expecting the sudden force of Charlie grabbing her like that but quickly realised a guard was approaching. Looking at Charlie she smiled guessing it was a good thing she let Charlie come along after all.

As the guard walked past the room they were hiding in they both held their breath. Charlie could easily pick up the clanking sound of the mans sword against his armor as he walked. However he seemed to stop for a moment, Charlie tensed at this. Had they been found out? With the guards out side they wouldn't be able to escape, they would be done for! she brought a hand to the blade she kept hidden in her boot prepared for the worst. But to her relief the sound of the guards foot fall resumed as he started walking again. Sighing in relief as he continued onward Charlie looked at Mira with a smile "all clear."

"For now" Mira finished off for Charlie as they left the library taking one quick look back. All those books... If she had the time she might pay this room a quick visit after she obtained the amulet.  

Charlie looked over to Mira, she was practicaly drooling over the books. Ever since they met as children Mira would always have her nose in a book when she wasn't working or fighting with the other thieves. Charlie couldn't help but smile at the memories.

Sighing as she closed the door Mira looked back at Charlie who had a rather creepy grin on her face. Scowling she groaned "quit messing around we're here to work." an continued to the treasury.

Charlie chuckled in response as they moved on and eventually approaching the corridor leading to the jackpot. Looking behind the corner she saw two guards at the door. this wasn't going to be a clean job...

Mira pulled out a few throwing knives and sent them flying towards the men's skulls. They never had a chance, falling into the ground Mira winced at the noise they made and moved toward them.

Charlie followed silently, feeling remorseful for the two men who layed dead before her as she sent out a silent prayer to their souls.

Standing before them Mira bowed her head in a moment of respect then opened the door of the treasury. Before her was a sight that would have thieves drooling as piles of gems and coins layed there just begging to be taken. But the target was the amulet and nothing more... Speaking of which there was a few display cases with the more valuable items and in the center of the room was the one with the amulet in question. Mira approached it with caution keeping an eye out for traps, the amulat was quite beautiful with large red gem in the center with small diamonds going round it.

While Mira was admiring the amulet Charlie had started carefuly filling her bag with the goodies. Mira liked to keep things professional but might as well take while the takings good.

After retrieving the amulet from its glass prison Mira looked back to see charlie filling her bag. "really? I turn my back for a minute."  

"It's my reward"

"... for what?"

"saving you butt earlier"

"..."

"..."

"damn it"

Charlie grinned knowing she'd won "besides I got you a present" she said as she pulled out an old leather book out and handed it to Mira.

The book was beautfully made and had the title "Beyond" in golden letters but what really caught her eye was the name of the auther under the title "Vernan Adair." Excitement filled Miras heart at the thought of reading this since there are only about three copies of this book in the entire world! Turning back to Charlie with a massive grin on her face.

Before she could say anything Charlie cut in "thank me later we'd better be going before anyone finds the bodies." And with that she was out the door.

Mira was quick behind going through all the corridors leading to the window paying close attention for any sounds that should cause alarm.

Once they reached the window Charlie's ears perked up trying to pick up the sounds of the guards foot tread. "I suggest we just make a run for it." She looked at Mira there was currently no gaps in the patrol and they couldn't wait for another.

"Are you crazy?" Mira hissed in reply.

However Charlie held her ground "we dont have a choice, we missed a gap and another guard is coming this way not to mention when someone finds the bodies you left they're going to raise the whole household."

Charlie was serious she this gleam in her eyes that she would get when they were in danger. Like she just snapped into survival mode. Mira had to trust her with her judgement and go with it and besides, this job would so boring with out a good chase.

"Right on my signal" Charlie instructed as she opened the window.

Even though it was just for a few seconds the silence and waiting was murder.

"NOW!"

With that Mira's legs sprang into action carrying her as fast as they could, Charlie was in the lead and so far none of the guards had noticed them...

"HEY OVER THERE!!!"

... Spoke to soon. The guards followed in pursuit but they were too late. Mira and Charlie were too far ahead and were about to leave the vast garden behind.

"Felix's terratory isn't to far from here. If we go there the guards will be to scared to follow." Charlie shouted while keeping up a good pace "can you make it?"

"Ye-yeah" was all Mira could say. Her lungs felt like they were about to eject itself from her chest.

"Just hang in there."

At the pace they were going it only took about five minutes and they were now safely in their friends terratory. Mira was sprawled on the cold ground trying to catch her breath.

"N-not bad eh?" Charlie laughed but she was clearly exhausted. Suddenly her ears pricked up "he's coming" she said with a smile.

As if on que the ground started to shudder with each thundering step of a dear friend of theirs as he approached.  

"hay big guy!"  Charlie called up.

A thundering voice chuckled "well this is a pleasant surprise, not causing too much trouble I hope."  

Charlie flashed him a grin as she replied "who us?~"
